Book Arts 101: Bloomsday
Wednesday June 16
3 PM Eastern Daylight Time

On June 16, 1904, James Joyce and the love of his life, Nora Barnacle, went on their first date. A few years later, when Joyce began writing his novel "Ulysses," it is that day that he chose for the entirety of the novel's action––inadvertently giving us a wonderful literary holiday: welcome to Bloomsday, celebrated around the world but particularly in Dublin, where folks follow the day's journey of the novel's main character, Leopold Bloom.

John Cutrone, Director of the Jaffe Center for Book Arts at Florida Atlantic University Libraries, is your host for Book Arts 101, and for Episode No. 39, which falls on the 16th of June, we'll celebrate Bloomsday through objects from the Jaffe Collection. Watch via Zoom Webinar or via the Facebook Live simulcast or watch the video that is posted after each broadcast at JCBA's Vimeo Channel (vimeo.com/jaffecenter).
